MADURAI: The contribution made by thespian Sivaji Ganesan to foster the spirit of nationalism and spirituality was recalled by several speakers at a function organised by Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Samooga Nala Peravai to release a book on the life of the veteran actor here on Sunday.

Releasing the book, ‘Sivaji: Oru Varalatrin Varalaru,’ authored by K. Chandrasekaran, K. V. Thankgabalu, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, hailed Sivaji Ganesan as a person who had carved a niche for himself in history. He made history by demonstrating to all that a person from Tamil Nadu could become a world class actor. Mr. Thankgabalu said the late actor had dedicated his life to the Congress movement and it was time all Congress supporters rallied together as one unit to revive Kamaraj rule in the State. All Congressmen, he said, should remain united to strengthen the hands of Sonia Gandhi. The first copy of the book was received by the Union Minister of State for Textiles, E. V. K. S. Elangovan. The book reveals the different facets of Sivaji Ganesan as observed by his contemporaries. R. Sukanthan, son of former TNCC president Vazhapadi K. Ramamurthy, presided.
