Kala, Tammineni’s entry fails to enthuse PRP

Staff Reporter

Praja Rajyam Party still facing organisational problems

Srikakulam: With the exit of Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao from the Telugu Desam Party on New Year day and Tammineni Seetharam in the recent past, those who had been waging a cold war with Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerrannaidu are out of the party.

Leaders at the party’s review meeting held against this backdrop came down heavily on those who deserted the party describing them as betrayers. The party leaders took exception to the remarks of Mr. Venkata Rao that the party failed to pursue social justice.

Despite the desertions, the TDP is still the most organised and well-established force in the district. On the other hand, the Praja Rajyam Party is not a force to reckon with in the district though leaders like Mr. Venkat Rao and Mr. Seetharam joined it. Except those loyal to the two leaders, the PRP does not have a cadre at the village level and it still faces the organiational problems.

Realising the necessity of PRP chief Chiranjeevi fans turning into political activists, Mr. Seetharam the other day called upon them to mould themselves into strong party cadre.

Teething troubles

With hardly three months to go to the Assembly polls, the PRP is still grappling with teething problems in the district.

No leader is seen visiting the party office to lead the party cadre in the right direction.

The lone leader, Mr. Seetharam, too has not been given any responsibility.

Political observers feel that the leaders, who quit the TDP, did so as they are of the view that the party would not return to power.

Political observers feel that the PRP, in the present position, is not a real contender to the Congress and the TDP, with strong cadre base, still remains the powerful party in the district.
