VILLUPURAM: The Villupuram district administration has taken steps to extend financial assistance to 5,000 self-help groups, according to R.Palanisamy, Collector. He was speaking at a function organised by the Real Social Service Organisation to commemorate the third anniversary of formation of SHG Federations here on Monday. The Collector said that the organisation had formed as many as 686 SHGs, thereby enabling substantial number of women to attain economic empowerment. He called upon the members to impart education among girl children to improve their living standards. The Collector underscored the point that the service organisation was coordinating with the district administration in its endeavour to form the SHGs and to run them smoothly. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
