Panchayat employee suspended

KOCHI: An employee of the Koothattukulam grama panchayat was suspended by the deputy director of panchayats (DDP) on charge of forging a birth certificate. M.P. Ajithkumar, DDP, suspended from service M.T. Ayyappan, a peon, after it was allegedly detected that the latter had forged a birth certificate at the instance of one Edwin Joseph of Kakkanad. He allegedly forged the signature of the panchayat secretary and other panchayat officials and also misused the seals of the panchayat. A department-level inquiry had been launched against the accused, it is learnt.
