Europe “floundering”

London: There is an uneasy diplomatic nervousness in major European Union capitals in the wake of “deeply divisive and almost soloist” European diplomatic initiatives in West Asia.

The E.U. is seen “floundering as squabbling member states lose chances to lead. The Times editorial “Clueless in Gaza” argues that in the absence of any leadership from the United States, the occasion offered diplomatic opportunity for the European Union in Gaza, but “it flunked the chance.”
