Belgaum: The district unit of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayan Gowda faction) has threatened to agitate if the Government allows the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) to organise “Maha-Melava”, proposed to be held on the same day as the first day of the Assembly session in Belgaum on January16. In a press release here on Monday, KRV district president Rajvee Topannavar said the MES was trying to find a pretext to foment trouble, harm linguistic harmony and peace in Belgaum. “If the Government allows the MES to go ahead with its programme, the KRV will organise a parallel Maha-Melva of Kannadigas,” he said. He strongly urged the Belgaum City Corporation to implement the Government Order on Kannada sign boards all over the city. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
