Competitions for SHG members begin

PUDUKOTTAI: District-level competitions on ‘Samathuva Pongal’ cultural programme for members of self-help groups was inaugurated here recently. Women members of a total of 156 self-help groups took part in elocution, drama and singing competitions.

A press release issued here said that a cash award of Rs.5,000, Rs.3,000 and Rs.2,000 will be given to the first, second and third prize winners respectively at the district-level competition in each event. Block-level winners will get Rs.500, Rs.300 and Rs.200 the same day. The cash prize will be given away at the ‘Samathuva Pongal’ celebrations to be held on ‘Pongal’ day, the release added.
