GIC staff union stages protest

Members of the GIC Employees’ Union struck work for two hours and staged a walk-out followed by demonstration against the alleged ill-attitude of CMD of the New India Assurance Company Ltd., on Monday. Union’s Vijayawada unit organising secretary V. Gopalakrishnaiah said that the members participated in the strike in protest against the termination of seven all India leaders of National Federation of General Insurance Employees for their trade union activities. All other trade unions, including ICEU, AIIEA and GIEA, extended their support to the national federation, he added.
