NEW DELHI: Noting with concern that nearly 1.09 lakh homeless people in the Capital spend the night out in the open braving the harsh winter, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan has questioned the logic behind constructing huge bungalows for Delhi Ministers, a decision taken by the Sheila Cabinet on Monday. Bungalow move flayedCharging that the Delhi Government was not concerned about the “common man”, Dr. Vardhan said he had no objection to providing bungalows to the Ministers but added that the Government should first think about providing accommodation to the common people. “Not a single Minister of Delhi is so poor that he cannot live without a government bungalow,” he said, adding that when the Government had not been able to provide even 12 square metre plots to the residents of slum clusters, the magnanimity shown in constructing 4,000 square metre bungalows appears out of place. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
