Bangalore: The Praja Vimochana Chalavali took out a rally from Banappa Park to the office of Deputy Commissioner (Urban) on Monday demanding that below poverty line cards be distributed to poor families. Speaking to The Hindu, Muni Anjanappa, State president of the chalavali, said that their main demands included sanctioning below poverty line cards to poor families, housing for the poor, issuance of title deeds and possession certificates for houses built on government land. “The BJP Government had promised to look into the demands of the poor and working class. However, no action has been taken to alleviate the sufferings of the poor,” he said. Nearly 200 people participated in the rally. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
