Mitrabha Guha catches up with Prameya Garge Khushi overcomes Hashini NAGPUR: In an eventful penultimate round the overnight leaders in both the boys’ and girls’ sections tumbled to defeats despite playing with white pieces in the National under-7 chess championship here on Tuesday. In the boys’ category, top seed Mitrabha Guha of Kolkata caught up with Prameya Garge of Akola in the lead with both players having 8.5 points from 10 rounds. The third place is shared by J. Ashwin, Rakesh Jena, Ayush Pattnaik and V.S. Rathnavel. Just the last round remains to be played on Wednesday. Mitrabha, a student of Dibyendu Barua, won with the black pieces against Ayush Pattnaik of Madhya Pradesh for a place in the lead. Prameya Garge lost to the lesser known Sankalp Singh of Orissa. In the girls’ section, Khushi Dharewa of Bengal leads with 8.5 points while four players — C.P. Nithya, Tarini Goyal, Arpita Mukherjee and Bansi Prathima are in second spot with eight points. Khushi overcame Hashini of Tamil Nadu while overnight leader Nithya went down to Tarini Goyal.
