NEW DELHI: Simla Youngs defeated City Club 2-1 in a Group ‘B’ preliminary league match of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) annual senior division open clubs championship here on Tuesday. In the ninth minute, Simla Youngs went 1-0 up through Manoj Chowdhary’s strike. His shot from top of the box found the net as rival goalkeeper Mohsin Khan failed to collect the ball neatly. Six minutes later, Nigerian Chewle Egware’s strike from the left flank made it 2-0 in favour of Simla Youngs. After a few desperate attempts to stage a comeback, City Club pulled one back through Akshay Dutt in the 75th minute. Simla Youngs collected three points from this match and increased its tally to six points from four outings. City Club has only one point from three games. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
