VISAKHAPATNAM: The last date for submission of applications under layout registration scheme (LRS) to regularise unauthorised, illegal and panchayat approved layouts has been extended up to January 31, with a payment of 10 per cent surcharge. Giving the details, Vice-Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority V.N. Vishnu said that the scheme could be availed by payment of 10 per cent surcharge in addition to the LRS penalisation charges. The VUDA has so far received about 11,222 applications under the scheme out of which Rs. 24 crores has been collected as 50 per cent of the penalisation charges. The highest number of application has come from Pendurthi zone with 2,687 applications, followed by Madhurawada with 2,435 applications, Gajuwaka 1,499 applications, Anakapalle 1,407, Beemunipatnam 1,204, Anandapuram 976, Vizianagaram 593 and Visakhapatnam city zone 421. The process of scrutiny and field inspections has been taken up and orders have been issued for those who have fulfilled all the requirements.
