CHENNAI: Vigneswara’s Alexander, Bharathi’s S. Parameshwaran and Appiah Chettiar’s Naresh registered match-winning six-wicket hauls in recent TNCA fourth division ‘A’ league cricket matches.

The scores: Fourth div. ‘A’: Vigneswara 116 in 38.2 overs (V. Sriram five for 37) bt Universal 89 in 23.2 overs (Alexander six for 43).

Prasad 114 in 48.2 overs (S. Parameshwaran six for 45) lost to Bharathi 116 for three in 26.5 overs.

MRC ‘B’ 98 in 24.5 overs (R. Vinesh Babu four for 30) lost to Grand Prix 99 for eight in 31.1 overs.

Minerva 229 in 43.1 overs (P. Arun Kumar 106, Naresh six for 42) lost to Appiah Chettiar 232 for seven in 49.4 overs (Pallavan 45, T. Sathya Moorthy 44).

Ashok Leyland 66 in 23.4 overs (M. Nanda Kumar five for 30) lost to Royapettah 68 for two in 9.2 overs (M. Vignesh 42 n.o.).

20th Century 321 in 47 overs (V. Sukumar 116, Pradeep Kumar 79, Ramkumar four for 74) bt Fox Trotters 159 in 32.3 overs (Prabhu 43, Ram Kumar 40).

Geet sparkles

Geet Puri’s all-round performance (92 and three for 14) helped St. John’s ES & JC score a 56-run win in the under-14 TNCA city schools cricket tournament recently.

The scores: Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram 225 for five in 30 overs (Hriday 81, S. Vignesh 47) bt Chettinad Vidyashram ‘A’ 198 for five in 30 overs (Akshay 65, Kaushik U. Ram 52).

Modern ‘B’ 33 in 17.5 overs (M. Shahrukh Khan five for five) lost to St. Bede’s ‘A’ 36 for one in 6.2 overs.

Pon Vidyashram 81 in 23.1 overs (S. Sriram three for nine, Sai Prakash three for 14) lost to PSBB ‘A’ (K.K. Nagar) 85 for one in 10.3 overs (R. Akash 41 n.o.).

PSBB ‘B’ (K.K. Nagar) 74 in 22.1 overs (Mitchell Antony Mannays four for 11) lost to Don Bosco ‘A’ 75 for four in 19 overs (T. Sathya 31).

Ramachandran bats well

An unbeaten 83 by M. Ramachandran helped T.”Nagar Sports Club beat Madras Gymkhana Club ‘B’ by 90 runs in the Madras Gymkhana Club-Singaram Trophy cricket tournament (T20) here recently.

The scores: MRC 209 for five in 20 overs (Ashok 66, Arjun 64, Senthil 33, Amarnath three for 32) bt Towers Club 191 for nine in 20 overs (Shashank 37, Kumaran 42, Mohan 30, Ashok three for 21).

Presidency Club 170 for nine in 20 overs (Gaurav Jain 80, Nikhil 45, R. Abhinav four for 23) bt Andhra Club 148 for five in 20 overs (K. Abhinav 50, Nitin 58).

Alumni Club 125 in 20 overs (P.C. Prakash 40, Prem 44) bt MCC 122 in 19.1 overs (P. Anand 30, Ganesh three for 15).
