‘Congress has no reason to panic’

Kakinada: Finance Minister K. Rosaiah has said that the TDP has no moral right to level corruption charges against the government as its own nine-year-rule was replete with instances of large-scale swindling of public money.

The Congress has ordered judicial inquiries into almost all the scandals that surfaced during its regime, unlike the TDP, which had successfully covered its misdeeds by various means. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Rosaiah said there was not even a single occasion when the TDP admitted its mistakes. Whereas, the Congress had no necessity at all to gloss over facts.

The TDP should therefore realise that it stood on a weak ground from where it was targeting the Congress without corroborating the slew of charges made by it.

As regards the current political scenario, Mr. Rosaiah said that the so-called grand alliance sought to be formed by the TDP, the TRS and Left parties had the single-point agenda of defeating the Congress, which was pretty confidence that its performance would be aptly rewarded by the people. TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao was the one who threw the ball of Telangana statehood into Sonia Gandhi’s court by ignoring the ruling party’s State high command, and in turn accused it of dilly-dallying on the contentious issue.

The TDP and the Left parties were known to change their views at every turn of events in an apparent deviation from their own ideologies. The newly formed Praja Rajyam Party was only harping on ‘change’. Nevertheless, the Congress had no reason to panic with such alliances as it had won people’s goodwill and continues to be in their good books.
