SBT triumphs

KOCHI: State Bank of Travancore bounced back impressively against Viva Kerala and won the Bhagat Soccer Cup all-Kerala football tournament at the FACT Ground, Udyogamandal, on Wednesday evening.

SBT defeated Viva Kerala 5-3, via the tiebreaker.

The bankmen, from Thiruvananthapuram, were down by a goal till the last minute but scored with a few seconds before the final whistle through the seasoned Asif Saheer. Guinea’s Sylla Mansa had given Viva the lead in the 24th minute.

SBT, however, was clearly superior in the tiebreaker with Martin, Rinil, Surjit and Mohammed Rasim being successful.

Viva’s Sylla Mansa was adjudged as the tournament’s best player. — Principal Correspondent
