Belekeri port resumes operations

Karwar: The Belekeri port resumed operations on Wednesday. It was closed two months ago by the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and the Department of Environment on complaints by some organisations that a public hearing was not held by jetty owners, which was mandatory. In a press release issued here on Tuesday, jetty owners said the port was ready to receive cargo from Wednesday. The State Government had permitted to resume operations at the port. — Correspondent
