Transport officials arrested

BANGALORE: Two second division assistants of Transport Department and a conduit were arrested on charges of collecting bribe here on Wednesday.

Raid

The Lokayukta police raided the Transport Department office in Multi-Storeyed Buildings near Vidhana Soudha and arrested the accused.

Demand

Mani, owner of a transport vehicle, had applied for a permit for Sabarimala and Second Division Assistant Venkatachalaiah had allegedly demanded Rs. 1,000 from him. Based on Mr. Mani’s complaint, the Lokayukta police trapped the accused while he was accepting money from a conduit named Kiran.

The Lokayukta police found Rs. 8,900 from his cupboard while searching his cabin. They recovered Rs. 2,000 from an alleged conduit Kiran.

Later the Lokayukta police searched a cabin of another second division assistant Prasanna Kumar who deals with the renewal of permits, and recovered Rs. 25,000 from his cabin.
