Sunaada Art Foundation celebrates the conferring of Bharata Ratna on Pandit Bhimsen Joshi

Sunaada Art Foundation celebrates the conferring of Bharatharatna award to the Indian music legend, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, as part of its fourth anniversary celebrations. The organisation has planned music concerts along with audio-visual presentations of some rare recordings, videos, images and interviews with people who have closely interacted with Panditji.

To commemorate the occasion, Pandit Madhava Gudi, prime disciple of Bhimsen Joshi will grace the occasion and also perform. The event will be held on January 17 at Gayana Samaja, K.R. Road, 10 a.m. The all-day programme features Pandit Sameer Chatterjee, a tabla virtuoso residing currently in USA. This will be his maiden concert in Bangalore. The morning session starts with classical vocal presentation by Gayathri Gudi, daughter of Pandit Madhava Gudi and will be followed by an audio-visual presentation. The session concludes with a vocal concert by Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar. The evening session starts with bhajans by Mukunda H.S., from the devotional music repertoire of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. This will be followed by a classical vocal concert by Omkarnath Havaldar. During the morning session, N.G. Joshi, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi’s brother will share some of the rare moments he spent with his illustrious brother. Senior musicologist Vidwan Ananda Rama Udupa will be felicitated. Entry is free.
