Harassment alleged

Bangalore: The Trade Union Co-ordination Centre (TUCC) has alleged that 32 employees of Smith India Private Limited, a private company based in Kumbalgod, are being harassed by the police in connection with a case in which they were not involved. Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, TUCC president G.R. Shivashankar said that the employees had been falsely implicated in a case in which the activists of a Kannada organisation had assaulted the head of the company. Following a false complaint, the workers had been arrested in their workplace and humiliated, he alleged. — Special Correspondent
