Kyra eyes a double

CHANDIGARH: Kyra Shroff made it to both the singles and doubles finals in the ITF grade ‘III’ junior tennis tournament here on Thursday.

She defeated Sachie Ishizu of Japan 6-1, 7-5 in the singles semifinals. Later, she partnered Rashmi Teltumbe to beat the Belarussian pair of Alena Gerasimova and Vladislava Kuzmenkova 6-2, 6-4.

The results (semifinals): Boys: Laurant Oliver Daxhelet (Bel) bt Kaza Vinayak Sharma 6-2, 4-6, 6-4; Yoannis Hilelis (Fra) bt Venkat Iyer 7-6(4), 6-3. Doubles: Jeroen Claeys (Bel) and Jeroen Benard (Ned) bt Saurabh Singh and Christopher Marquis 2-6, 6-1, 10-7; Lakshit Sood and Chandril Sood bt Alexander Igoshin and Mikhail Titov (Rus) 6-1, 2-6, 10-3.

Girls: Valentina Starkova (Kaz) bt Aishwarya Agrawal 6-3, 6-2; Kyra Shroff bt Sachie Ishizu (Jpn) 6-1, 7-5. Doubles: Melis Sezer (Tur) and Ishizu Sachie (Jpn) bt Prarthana Thombre and Iktesh Chahal 6-1, 6-1; Kyra Shroff and Rashmi Teltumbe bt Alena Gerasimova and Vladislava Kuzmenkova (Blr) 6-2, 6-4.
