Hyderabad Sporting downs Bharat Dynamics

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Sporting recorded a 2-0 win over Bharat Dynamics Ltd in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship here on Thursday.

After a barren first-half, Sporting took the lead in the 42nd minute through mid-fielder Ahmed. In the 56th minute striker Talha scored the second goal for the winner.

HCA u-14 teams

Hyderabad Cricket Association named the two under-14 teams to go to Bangalore and Chennai. The names are displayed on the notice board at Gymkhana Grounds.

All those selected for Bangalore are to report to coach D. Girish at Gymkhana Grounds by 7.00 a.m. on January 9 and those picked for Chennai should report to N. S. Ganesh by 2.30 p.m. at the same venue.

Veterans athletics team

Hyderabad District Athletics Association has selected the following athletes to represent India in the 15th Asian Masters championship to be held in Chaingmai (Thailand) from January 13 to 17.

The team: Rajesh Kumar (5000m), Bikash Karar (5000m, 3000m steeplechase and 400m hurdles), M. Babu Rao (5km walk) and R.E. Venkateshwar Rao (5000m).

DRS sports meet

DRS International School will organise Sports Meet for Global Peace in memory of the martyrs in the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Mr. S. S. P. Yadav, Director General of Police, Dr. C. N. Gopinath Reddy, Additional DGP and D. Harika, world junior chess champion, will grace the inaugural function on Friday at the school premises.
