DHAKA: The New Bangladesh Foreign Minister, Dr. Dipu Moni, has said Bangladesh will involve neighbours in working out an effective mechanism, a task force to fight militancy and terrorism for peace and stability in south Asia. Dr. Moni, the first woman Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, said strengthening ties with neighbours and resolving maritime boundary delimitation within the shortest possible time would be immediate priorities of the Awami League-led alliance government. “Militancy and terrorism are not limited to geographical boundary. For that reason, we will take effective steps to fight it in consultation with our neighbouring countries as we want peace and stability in the entire region.” On delimitation of maritime boundary with India and Myanmar, Dr. Moni said she was optimistic about resolving the issue. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
