Buses as yet unaffected

Staff Correspondent

BANGALORE: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North West KRTC, North East KRTC and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) appear to be unaffected from the oil crisis, at least for the present.

BMTC Director (Security and Vigilance) P.S. Sandhu told The Hindu that the corporation received supplies from IOCL and HPCL. Foreseeing the shortage, BMTC filled the tanks in its outlets as well as buses on Wednesday itself. HPCL had promised to maintain adequate supply of diesel since BMTC is an essential service, he added. BMTC needs nearly 260 kilo litres of diesel every day. KSRTC also has stocks lasting at least for two days even as oil companies have promised to maintain regular supply, according to KSRTC Director (Security and Vigilance) M.A. Saleem. He said KSRTC alone required nearly 350 kilo litres of diesel a day.
