MANGALORE: Translation enabled religious texts reach the mass, said president of Serampur University, West Bengal, J.S. Sadanand, here on Thursday. He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day seminar on “Translating religious texts into Kannada” at the Sahodaya Hall of Karnataka Theological Research Institute here. Translation unchained the religious texts from the hands of the elite, Mr. Sadanand said and termed translation as a “bridge to an unknown world of knowledge”. Translation was not an end in itself as oral communication and folk communication came under the category of religious texts. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
