Concern over airline firms stopping services

Special Correspondent

KOZHIKODE: Agencies campaigning for the development of the Calicut airport have voiced concern over the cancellation of international operations by RAK airline from the airport to Ras-al-Khaimah. There were reports that SriLankan Airlines was also contemplating cancellation of its Kozhikode-Colombo service.

Calicut International Airport Development Authority (Ciads) spokesman Saber Cheruvadi said there were reasons to suspect the role of interest groups behind the move.

Ciads held a meeting to register concern over the move by foreign airline companies.

Ciads had also sent an appeal to the authorities of SriLankan Airlines in this regard, he said.
