CAT results out

CHENNAI: Candidates who took the Common Admission Test (CAT) in November last year got to know where they stood among the nearly 2.50 lakh aspirants on Friday.

A few of them had difficulty in accessing the official results website of the Indian Institutes of Management (http://results.catiim.in), as several thousands tried logging onto it simultaneously.

Spokespersons of leading training institutes such as T.I.M.E. and IMS said that the trends in this year’s results would be clearer in a day or two. Jaideep Singh Chowdhary of T.I.M.E. said about 5,000 candidates would receive calls for the next stages – Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

“They will be competing for the nearly 1,750 seats in all the IIMs,” he said.

“A lot of students from Chennai do very well. Since there is an IIT in Chennai, many of them take CAT.” Training institutes also suggested that an overall cut-off of 118-128 out of the total score of 360 would fetch an interview call from at least one of the IIMs.

The Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds for selection are expected to be held around second week of next month.

For those students who got calls, it is celebration time. Sarvesh Rajagopal, a final year student at the IIT-Madras is elated. Having received calls from all the IIMs, he has reason to feel so. “I have to now prepare for the GD and PI. I hope they go off well,” he said.
