Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: This coming January 20, Adithya Varadarajan, an alumnus of Delhi’s Sanskriti School, will witness history being made in Washington D.C. when Barack Obama is sworn in as the new U.S. President.

Adithya, one of the students chosen to attend the swearing-in ceremony in the U.S., says Mr. Obama is a role model for millions of youngsters across the globe. “I have been greatly inspired by his thoughts and speeches. His slogan, ‘Yes, We Can….’ must be adopted by the youth across the globe. Mr. Obama becomes the most powerful man in the universe after the swearing-in ceremony and it will become difficult for me to interact with him. But if I do get to meet him, I will tell him how his talks have made students across the globe more responsible and better citizens,” he adds.

Currently studying as an under-graduate student in the engineering department of the University of Michigan, Adithya says he will attend various functions from January 17 to 21 in which he will get a chance to interact with former U.S. Vice-President Al Gore and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Adithya , who is studying design engineering at the University, says his essay on child soldiers was so good that he was invited to attend a global conference in the U.S. and then to another conference.

He was also invited to participate in a unique global leadership conference in Beijing in the previous year.
