Panel to look into BU bifurcation

Bangalore: The State Government constituted a committee on Saturday to look into the pros and cons Bangalore University’s bifurcation.

According to an official communiqué from the Additional Secretary to the Department of Higher Education (University), the 10-member committee is headed by N. Rudriah, former Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University. The other members include K.C. Ramamurthy, K. Narahari, M. Govindiah, Mariyamma Vargeese, Vijay Padaki, Eresi, K.G. Lokesh, Pundalik Alambi and Sanjay Vir Singh.

The communiqué added that the university has more than three lakh students in about 700 colleges. With the introduction of the semester system, it had become difficult for the university to manage administrative work, valuation, preparation marks cards, degree certificates, etc. For smooth administration, the Government decided to bifurcate the university.
