In contention: A DSC candidate, who is in police custody, filling up application form in Sangareddy on Monday. Sangareddy: Fearing that they may lose the chance to submit application for teacher posts announced under the District Selection Committee (DSC), around two thousand unemployed youth on Monday gathered before the District Educational Officer’s (DEO) office to present their applications. The rush took place as the last date according to earlier schedule was Jan 16 and there were two holidays in between. Though the last date for submitting applications has been extended to January 31, it was not communicated to the aspirants properly. The communication has not reached even the DEO office till Monday evening. As a result they could not inform the applicants. At least those residing in and around Sangareddy were prepared to come later but they were also informed about the development late in the evening. “We had already received 5,000 applications. On Monday, more than 1,500 unemployed youth came to the office to submit their applications. A lot of time is being consumed to examine the application as we have to check many certificates,” said an official of the Education Department. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
