NTP demands SIT, special court for Satyam episode

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Nava Telangana Party on Monday demanded that a special court headed by a Supreme Court Judge be set up and a Special Investigation Team constituted without delay to investigate into the fraud in Satyam Computers.

At a press conference here, party president T. Devender Goud and senior leader E. Peddi Reddy said the Government should lay down clearly the terms of reference for the inquiry with a time-bound plan of action.

Referring to the probe ordered by the CID into the scam, Mr. Goud remarked: As former Home Minister, I know the shortcomings of the CID.

The NTP chief said the credibility of regulatory bodies like the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had taken a beating. It was now for the Government to take firm steps to safeguard the interests of employees and shareholders by exposing all those involved in the fraud. The scanner should be turned on Maytas Infra and Maytas Properties and probe the daily transaction to ferret out the truth, he said.
