Call to make more films for children

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: More and more children’s films should be produced spanning inspirational, educative and entertainment aspects, S. Chandrashekar, Regional Officer of Central Board of Film Certification, Karnataka Region, said here on Monday.

Speaking at a seminar at the Fifth International Children’s Film Festival, organised by Children’s India, Mr. Chandrashekar said too few children’s films were being made compared with feature films.

There were about 1,200 feature films in celluloid and equal number of video films produced in 2007, working out to be an average of three to four films released a week. He said that Union and State Governments should help in making more children films, primarily concentrating on children.

Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Children’s Film Society M. Vedakumar said the responsibility of survival of good movies lies on the viewers. They should reject the movies which were harmful for young minds.
