Movement launched

KARUR: A new movement to highlight environmental issues was launched in Karur on Monday.

Noted environmentalist G. Nammalvar launched the “Makkal Vahvurimai Iyakkam” that laid stress on ecoconservation, environmental education of students and protection of livelihood resources among other things.

Organiser P. Gunasekaran of Karur welcomed the gathering at a special workshop on eco-farming movement conducted as its inaugural programme at Puliyur near here.

General secretary of the Women’s Movement Christy Samy, president of the Association of Farmers Affected by Pollution K. Ramasamy and others participated in the inaugural.
