Mani HSS retains T.S.S & Co. Trophy

Coimbatore: I. Bharath Chezhian hit an unbeaten 43 as Mani HSS defeated RKS Kalvi Nilayam by nine runs and retained the CDCA under-16 inter-school cricket tournament for the T.S.S & Co. Trophy here on Tuesday.

The scores (final): Mani HSS 186 in 36 overs (I. Bharath Chezhian 43 n.o.) bt RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 177 for seven in 40 overs.

Anna varsity wins title

Anna University, with an all-win record in the semifinal league, won the title in the all-India inter-University ball badminton tournament for women in Tiruchi on Tuesday.

Mangalore bagged the second spot with two victories, while Mahatma Gandhi finished third with a solitary triumph.

The results (semifinal league): Anna bt Mangalore 29-12, 29-22; MGU bt Bharathidasan 29-20, 26-29, 29-21.

Easy for NKCC

NKCC scored an emphatic eight-wicket win over PRP Kapil Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-DCAN first division league at Namakkal recently.

The scores: PRP Kapil CC (Namakkal) 136 for five in 40 overs (K. Sivakumar 46 n.o.) lost to NKCC (Namakkal) 137 for two in 24.4 overs.

ICAR SZ sports meet

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) South Zone sports meet, organised by the Sugarcane Breeding Institute of Coimbatore, will be held from January 20 to 24.

City Police Commissioner, K.C. Mahali, will inaugurate the event on January 20 at 10 a.m.

Anish scalps five

Anish picked five for 32 in Gudalur Cricket Club’s five-wicket win over Yankees Cricket Club in the NDCA-HPF Rolling Trophy cricket tournament at Udhagamandalam recently.

The scores: RSCA 145 (Vinoth Kumar four for 24) lost to Rockers CC 146 for five; Yankees CC 181 for nine in 40 overs (Anish five for 32) lost to Gudalur CC 184 for five in 36.1 overs (Nithesh 53); Divis CC 234 (V. Vinoth 42) bt Green City CC 184 (Sathish four for 28); Colts CC 123 lost to Youngstars CC 126 for two (P.C. Yadhush Bose 59 n.o.).

Coimbatore defeated host Vellore by 39 runs and retained the title in the TNCA under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at Vellore recently.

Kancheepuram in final

Kancheepuram defeated Tiruchi by 61 runs to book a place in the final of the TNCA under-16 inter-district cricket tournament in Tiruchi on Tuesday.

The scores (semifinals): Kancheepuram 163 & 97 for eight in 40 overs (R. Raghavendran four for 34, P.S. Nirmal Kumar four for 43) bt Tiruchi 108 & 91 in 37.2 overs (V. Ashok four for 16).
