Councillor alleges protocol violation

VIZIANAGARAM: P. Vijayalakshmi, 11th ward councillor, who quit the Congress and joined the Praja Rajyam Party, demanded action against officials for violation of protocol and irregularities in the allotment of house-sites to the ineligible.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi said that the officials concerned had not been informing her about the welfare activities being launched in her ward.

Referring to distribution of house-site pattas to beneficiaries of her ward on Friday by Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana, she said that she was not aware of the programme until the beneficiaries identified and photographed a couple of months ago complained about the injustice meted out to them at the function. This was not the first time, she said and added that even pulse polio programme conducted in her ward was not informed to her.

‘List altered’

The Councillor said that though the survey for eligible women for house-sites in her ward was completed long ago, the list of eligible was altered to suit Congress leaders. Many of them who received pattas on Friday from the Minister were government employees, Congress workers and those who already were benefited under the Indiramma programme, she added. To substantiate her statement, she released a list consisting of 158 eligible women who were photographed but not issued pattas so far. Later, she submitted a memorandum to Collector G. Ram Narayana Reddy for action.
