Spirit seized

Raichur: The Raichur police arrested three persons and seized rectified spirit worth Rs.42,000 and three kg of chloral hydrate powder (used in manufacturing spurious toddy) as well as spurious toddy in two separate incidents on Sunday.

The police intercepted a jeep on Raichur-Mantralayam Road near Matmari village while it was transporting the rectified spirit.

They arrested Krishna and Padmaraj and seized the vehicle.

In another case, the police arrested Gundappa and seized the chloral hydrate powder and two pots of spurious toddy which he was allegedly selling at Malliabad village near here. All the accused have been remanded in judicial custody.

The Yergera police have registered separate cases. — Staff Correspondent
