Without power for two weeks

Correspondent

Karwar: Villagers of Ukkal hobli of Kalasayi village in Joida taluk are spending their nights without electricity for the last two weeks. A technical problem in a transformer is said to be the reason for this.

While giving connection for the first time, power was supplied to Maad Dongre, Binawada and Madawal villages through this transformer. A few months ago, a new transformer was fitted. But it was replaced by the old one after a few days. This has caused immense problem to villagers.

The villagers have requested Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited to install a new transformer within a week time to ensure power supply to the villages. They said that they would launch an agitation if it failed to fulfil their demand.
