Prasanna welcomes decision

Bangalore: E.A.S. Prasanna, a founder-member of the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), welcomed the BCCI’s decision to grant amnesty to those players and support staff who would sever ties with the ICL before May 31.

“I welcome this invitational gesture by the BCCI. It is a generous move and I would say that it signals the return of the prodigal son! And I am sure like any benevolent parent, the BCCI will not deny the players, who are coming back, their genuine rights,” Prasanna said.

The legendary off-spinner, however, added that there should have been clarity on former cricketers like him. “It would have been even more welcome if the BCCI had stated its policy on our pensions that have been stopped.

“I hope the Board officials will also make a statement about releasing our pensions and that will be an added increment to this latest effort to rehabilitate those cricketers who admit that they have committed a mistake,” he said.
