World Red Cross Day celebrated

TIRUNELVELI: Skating rally, blood donation and diabetes detection camps marked the World Red Cross Day celebrated by the Indian Red Cross Society’s Tirunelveli Chapter here on Friday.

The skating rally by the children, flagged off by Superintendent of Police, Tirunelveli district Asra Garg near Palayamkottai bus-stand, culminated at Anna Stadium, Palayamkottai.

In the free diabetes detection camp held at Hindu Middle School in Tirunelveli town, Dr. Premachandran examined the patients while a group of youths donated blood in the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.

Indian Red Cross Society and Human Rights Protection Council jointly organised a seminar on ‘Human rights and humanitarian activities of Red Cross.’

D. Mohan, president, Human Rights Protection Council, and D.A. Prabakar, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Tirunelveli, offered felicitations.
