TIRUPATI: Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar is all set to lend her voice to seven Sanskrit keertans penned by saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya. She has in principle accepted the proposal made by TTD Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachary in this regard and considers the offer a ‘boon’. The TTD had long back initiated the practice of roping in music stalwarts and celebrities like M.S. Subbalakshmi, M.L. Vasantakumari, Mani Krishnaswamy, M. Balamurali Krishna, K.J.Yesudas, Sudha Raghunathan, G. Balakrishna Prasad, Hyderabad sisters and Nityasri Mahadevan among others to take the keertans to a higher plane of fame. In fact, the Venkateswara Suprabhatham and Balaji Pancharatna Kritis sung by M.S. Subbalakshmi are famous across the globe . ‘ Tunes were composed to the compositions in light Hindustani classical style by A. Sabari Girish, a lecturer in the TTD’s College of Music and Dance while Akella Vibhishana Sarma, manager of TTD’s FM Radio Station explained the lyrics to Ms.Mangeshkar. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
