Bangalore: The Bangalore city police have requested motorists to avoid several roads in central and southern parts of the city on Sunday as two big events are slated for that day, raising the spectre of a gridlock. BJP utsavThe BJP Government is celebrating the “Vikasa Sankalpa Utsav” to mark the completion of one year in office, at the National College Grounds, Basavanagudi, and at least 30,000 BJP activists from all over Karnataka are expected to take part in the daylong event. City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari has requested motorists to avoid K.R. Road (from Wadi Junction to Shivashankar Circle), Vani Vilas Road (from National College to Ramakrishna Ashram) up to Shivashankar Circle on Chamarajapet 5th Main, and Shankar Math Road (between Chamarajpet 5th Main and Vani Vilas Road junction). MarathonThe Cantonment area will be the route for the Sunfeast World 10K Bangalore 2009 and this is also expected to jam the roads. Traffic has been banned on Kasturba Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Cubbon Road, Ulsoor Road, Dickenson Road, Kamaraj Road, Queen’s Road, Ambedkar Road, and also roads inside Cubbon Park from 6.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. But alternative routes have been identified to ensure smooth traffic flow, Mr. Bidari said in a communiqué. Vehicles coming from J.C. Road and going towards the Vidhana Soudha and Raj Bhavan can use Police Corner, K.G. Road, Old Post Office Road and K.R. Road to join Ambedkar Veedhi. Vehicles coming from J.C. Road and Nrupatunga Road and going towards Old Madras Road, M.G. Road, Ulsoor, Marathahalli and surrounding places can use Hudson Circle, Mission Road and Shanthinagar Junction to join Richmond Circle and reach Residency Road. Motorists from Shivajinagar can travel through Balekundri Circle, Cunningham Road, Chandrika Hotel junction, LRDE, Basaveshwara Circle to move further. Motorists from Balekundri Circle can join Infantry Road by taking a left turn at Traffic Headquarters Junction. Vehicular movement has been banned inside Cubbon Park from K.R. Road. Vehicles from K.R. Road can use Gopal Gowda Circle (no entry inside the Cubbon Park), Ambedkar Road and Police Thimmaiah Circle to move further. Vehicles from Anil Kumble Circle can take a left turn at Queen’s Road and move on the left side either on Lavelle Road or Kasturba Road; there is no entry to vehicles on B.R.V. Road at Anil Kumble Circle coming from M.G. Road and St. Marks Road. Goods carriers entering the city from Old Madras Road can join Old Airport Road through Suranjan Das Road. Vehicles can reach Mehkri Circle by passing through Ulsoor Lake, St John’s Church Road, Cantonment Road and Jayamahal Road. Vehicles from Infantry Road can use Dickenson Road, St. John Road and Gangadhar Chetty Road to join Old Madras Road. All vehicles going towards Shivajinagar, Mahatma.Gandhi Road and Ulsoor (coming from Minerva Circle) can take a right turn at Bharat Junction on J.C. Road and travel through H. Siddaiah Road, Urvashi Theatre Junction, Kengal Hanumanthaiya Road (Double Road) and Richmond Circle. ParkingVehicle parking has been banned on Kasturba Road, Vittal Mallya Road, Raja Ram Mohun Roy Road, Cubbon Road, Queen’s Road, Ulsoor Road, Dickenson Road, Kamaraj Road, Ambedkar Veedhi, inside Cubbon Park and Infantry Road.
