PATNA: The Patna High Court on Thursday allowed a newly-elected undertrial Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Member of Parliament to go to New Delhi with police escorts to attend the special session of Lok Sabha for taking oath. Kameshwar Baitha, lodged in Sasaram Jail in Bihar in connection with several criminal cases being probed by the Bihar police, won the Lok Sabha election from Palamu constituency in Jharkhand on a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket. He moved the High Court on Wednesday seeking permission to go to Delhi to attend the Lok Sabha session to take the oath. One-day reliefJustice Mridula Mishra allowed his prayer and asked the State I-G (Prisons) to make arrangements for his visit to Delhi with escorts “just for a day for taking oath” and return to Sasaram Jail. - PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
