Thrissur: Incidents of student violence were reported in different parts of the district on Monday. Students Jayasankar and Sirajuddin were injured in clashes between two groups at the Government Law College. They were admitted to the District Hospital and the Cooperative Hospital. The police said the clashes were between activists of the Students’ Federation of India and a rebel SFI group. Activists of the rebel group alleged they were attacked for burning writer Sukumar Azhikode in effigy recently after he criticised Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan. GheraoedSFI activists gheraoed principal of the St. Thomas College alleging the college was collecting fee illegally from SC/SC students and additional admission fee from students. The activists called off the protest after the college said it would look into the issue. InjuredAn AISF activist, Deepu, was admitted to the District Hospital here after he sustained minor injuries in a scuffle between AISF and SFI activists at Nattika S. N. College.
