TIRUCHI: Residents in the district, whose ration cards have been put on the ‘stop supply’ list following the cent per cent door-to-door verification, have been given a last chance to appeal against the order. Supplies to 1,04,126 cards were stopped after they were suspected to be bogus after the verification on a pilot basis a few months ago. Ration cards of residents who were not found at the given residence were put on the ‘stop supply’ list. Currently, 72,307 cards in the district are under the ‘stop supply’ list. The stop supply lists have been notified in all ration shops in the eight taluks of the district. The district administration has decided to give yet another chance for genuine card holders, Collector T. Soundiah has said. The appeals, along with relevant documents, should be submitted to the respective Taluk Supplies Officer on or before June 30, Mr. Soundiah said. Final orders would be issued before July 31 after verification. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
