KOTTAYAM: Girls stole a march over boys, bagging 37 out of the possible 41 top ranks in the final year BA degree examinations held by Mahatma Gandhi University during March 2009. Results of all examinations except Sanskrit and Philosophy have been released on the website www.mguniversity.edu and www.keralaresults.nic.in. The percentage of pass is 70. Ernakulam Colleges led the tally with 20 ranks while Kottayam district followed with 17. There are three rank-holders from Idukki district and one from Pathanamthitta district. The following is the list of top rank-holders with the marks in brackets in various streams: Malayalam: Arathy P Nair (740 marks), Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha; Islamic History: Ganesh Kumar G. (521), Maharajas College, Ernakulam; English: Tejimol George (644) Alphonsa College, Pala; Economics: Nandini R. Nair (878), SH College Thevara; Hindi: Neethu S. (696), DB College, Thalayolaparambu; History: Glineez Philip (618), Alphonasa College, Pala; Communicative English: Srividya Vijayan (1,106) St Thomas College, Pala; Sociology: Abraham V Eapen (647), SH College, Thevara; Political Science: Jeethu Elza Cheriyan Chacko (654) Baselius College, Kottayam; Psychology: Misaaj K. V. (710) UC College, Aluva; French: Reshma Maria Sampath (699), St. Theresas College, Ernakulam; Arabic: Rafina K. Y. (728) Maharajas College, Ernakulam and Tamil: Sudha M (619) Government College, Munnar.
