T.M. Thomas Isaac says no benefit has been received from the extension project. KOCHI: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has called for including the Rs.201-crore Kuttiyadi extension project of 1994 in the purview of the CBI probe in the Lavalin case. If the CBI did not do so, Dr. Isaac suggested, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in the State investigate it and those in the then UDF government who had been party to squandering Rs.201 crore of public money be brought before the law. He was speaking at a seminar organised by the CPI(M) on the ‘Nightmare of Vimochana Samaram’ here on Wednesday where the third edition of his Malayalam book on the struggle was released by CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan. Dr. Issac said the Kuttiyadi extension project, aimed to increase the generating capacity of the Kuttiyadi power project by 50 MW, was okayed by the Power Minister in the A.K. Antony government. It was carried out by SNC-Lavalin. Not a single paisa worth of benefit had been received from it.. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
