Staff development programme organised
Fifty staff members from various universities participated in the staff development programme organised jointly by the organised by the Department of Biotechnology of Periyar Maniammai University and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which concluded last week. T. Puniamoorthy, Professor and Head of Thanjavur centre of the Tamil Nadu University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, delivered the valedictory address. He stressed the importance of traditional medicine and appealed to the participants to keep the environment clean. According to N. Ramachandran, vice-chancellor of Periyar Maniammai University, the participants were trained in the area of biomarkers. R. R. Sinha, Adviser, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and G. Ilavazhagan, Scientist ‘G’ and Director, Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, addressed the staff of various universities during the orientation programme. S.
