A Memorial: The Alur Venkat Rao Bhavan in Dharwad, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 crore. DHARWAD: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate “Suvarna Samskrutika Samuchchaya” built at a cost of Rs. 2 crore here, on Saturday. This is part of a project to construct cultural complexes to mark the golden jubilee of unification of Karnataka. “Samksrutika Samuchchaya” consists of an administrative block, library and books block and auditorium and art gallery block. The first two blocks were constructed at a cost of Rs. 51 lakh a year ago. The Department of Kannada and Culture is functioning from the administrative building. In the book section, books on cultural heritage, literature, sculpture, theatre, folklore, fine arts, architecture and history of Karnataka are on display. They are also for sale. The auditorium has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.43 crore, which can accommodate 130 people. There is an art gallery adjacent to it. The Chief Minister will also inaugurate another building constructed in memory of Alur Venkatarao in Dharwad at a cost of Rs. 1 crore. The Alur Venkat Rao Bhavan comprises an auditorium, exhibition hall, library and an administrative block. The hall will be used to display the belongings of Alur Venkat Rao, documents related to his contribution to the unification movement and his books.
