Siddaramaiah demands probe into violence

MYSORE: The Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Siddaramaiah demanded a judicial inquiry into the violence that took place in Mysore on July 2, which claimed three lives and left at least 18 people injured.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Siddaraiamaiah also sought punishment for the guilty while attributing the incident to “intelligence failure”.

He flayed the administration for withdrawing police security which was earlier provided at the area where the carcass of a slaughtered animal was found. He said the authorities failed to anticipate the fallout.

“There would have been no scope for miscreants to carry out their plans had the police security been in place,” he added.

He said timely implementation of prohibitory orders could have reduced the intensity of violence and prevented the situation from spiralling out of control.

The KPCC announced Rs. 50,000 each to the families of those killed in the violence.
