Training in jewel appraisal

PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry Institute of Cooperative Management will conduct a week-end training programme in jewel appraisal and related techniques from July 11.

The 100-hour programme would include 40 hours of classroom work, 30 hours of jewel-making methodology and 30 hours of training in detecting gold quality using a touchstone.

Aspects such as calculating the price, detecting quality and purity, types of jewellery and hallmarking will be dealt with in the class.

Persons above 18 who have passed Class X could join. The programme would be held on Saturdays and Sundays from July 11 for eight weeks. Applications could be had from the Pondicherry Institute of Cooperative Management (30 Anna Salai, Puducherry, Phone 2220105) for Rs. 50 till July 10. The course fee is Rs. 2,630.
